KID CLASSES @ THE STUDIO

Let your child explore and create in our small, intimate classes.  Kids will build futuristic cities, sew their own books and learn about fine artists from around the world!

Winter 2017: January 18th - March 30th

Triangles, Squares and Circles, Oh My! (18-48 mos) ~ Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays 10:15-11am
Young artists will explore shapes, color and strengthen their fine motor skills through a variety of 2-3 dimensional art materials. By focusing on a specific color or theme each session, children will build their skills with drawing, collage, painting and small-scale sculpture.

All About Me (4-7 years) ~ Tuesdays 4:15-5pm
Young artists will carefully look at themselves and the world around them through a variety of art activities. Projects will focus around self and family portraits, as well as artists who explore similar themes, such as Frida Kahlo, Pablo Picassos and Andy Warhol.

Science & Art (4-7 years) ~ Wednesdays 4:15-5pm
Budding Picassos and young Einsteins unite! Kids will go on an adventure through the intersecting worlds of science and art in this fun class! We’ll get messy with homemade chalk, Gyotaku printmaking, fossil creation and much more!

Zip, Zap, Zoom: Comics for Kids (4-7 years) ~ Thursdays 4:15-5pm
Budding comic artists and enthusiasts will learn the basics to create their own comic book through hands-on activities and explorations of contemporary comic artists.

    Contemporary Kids (4-7 years) ~ Tuesdays 4:15-5pm
    Kids will discover the artwork of contemporary and 20th century artists, including Jim Dine, Kiki Smith, Keith Haring, Orly Genger, Sun Kwak, Banksy and many more. We’ll explore their method and materials, along with new techniques being used by artists. 

    Recycled Art (4-7 years) ~ Wednesdays 4:15-5pm
    Young artists will use a variety of recycled materials to create 2-3 dimensional artwork. Projects include: junk printmaking, recycled robot creation, paper making and city creation.

    Storytelling Through Art -- NEW CLASS! (8-12 years) ~ Thursdays 4:15-5pm
    Students will learn about different methods of storytelling through art.  Bookmaking, self portraits, comics and multi-media art will be explored, getting inspiration from fine artist's work, children's literature and street art!

      Summer 2017: July 11th - August 31st

      Matisse, Monet & Me (3-5 years) ~ Tuesdays and Wednesdays 11:15am-12pm
      Budding Picassos will get inspiration for their artwork by looking at the work of fine artists. Activities include Andy Goldsworthy-inspired nature sculptures, Kandinsky music painting, Jim Dine-inspired mixed media creation and much more!

      Contemporary Kids (4-7 years)  ~ Thursdays 10:15-11am
